Greater Killeen Free Clinic

The Free Clinic is a volunteer based, acute care clinic which operates three clinics a week. All services are provided free of charge. These include exam, medications, diagnostic testing referral for subspecialty care, referral for limited dental care, optometry, and social services screening.Patients are seen on a first come, first serve basis, with numbers handed out and patient check in at 4:30 PM on Monday and Thursday evenings and Tuesday mornings at 9:00 AM.

The Temple Community Clinic offers services for general family practice and internal medicine, which includes treatment of diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), and preventative services such as certain vaccinations. Classes offered: GED Preparation, English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) and Citizenship Test Preparation. All CTC adult education classes and services are offered free of charge. They do not charge tuition or fees, and all necessary materials are provided for you. GED and ESL classes are currently offered at the following locations: Fort Hood Killeen CTC Central CampusHarker HeightsCopperas CoveLampasasGatesvilleSan SabaHamiltonClass time offerings vary to fit your needs. Most classes meet for three hours per session, two days per week. There are morning, afternoon, and evening classes. They also offer online courses to supplement in-class work. The Adult Education Department also offers transition services. They have an advisor on staff to help you make your next steps, whatever they may be. At any time during your participation in the adult education program, you can take advantage of this free service by making an appointment with the transition coordinator to discuss your future plans. The coordinator also teaches free workshops on Goal Setting, Transitioning to College, and Transitioning to the Workforce.

Christian Men's Job Corps of Bell County

Christian Men's Job Corps is a free, 10-week, faith-based program that helps prepare men to transition back into the workplace. Individuals with criminal backgrounds are accepted on a case by case basis. Each student is thoroughly trained in the operation of a computer, job search, resume preparation and the interview process and each chooses a vocational goal in a field he is most suited to. Each man also receives a mentor. Classes are in the evenings.

GED classes at Temple College run Monday-Thursday, from 8 a.m. to noon or 5 to 9 p.m. Students must first attend an orientation and then may attend classes as their schedules allow so long as they meet minimum time requirements. Students will work at their own pace with individualized lesson plans that adequately and intentionally prepare them to pass their GED test. The intake interview helps determine the applicant's desire to change their circumstances, their work skills, obtain job training and eligibility for affordable housing. The families stay at the day center during the day where they cook breakfast, pack lunches or prepare lunch for their family. The day center provides a permanent address and phone number as they seek employment. School-age children attend school and infants/ toddlers are enrolled in childcare.
