The toll free Crisis Hotline is 1-800-841-6467. This crisis number is for people facing an emergency situation, such as having a homicidal or suicidal thoughts. If your call is an emergency, a crisis team may be sent out to help manage your situation. If necessary, emergency services may also be contacted to respond to your crisis.

The Food Bank of Corpus Christi distributes food in bulk to nonprofit organizations or churches that have a purpose or mission statement related to the care and feeding of the ill, needy, or minor children. The Food Bank has Food Pantries in or serving every zip code in Corpus Christi and has representation in most of the 11 rural counties that they serve.Clients may call the Food Bank, give their zip code and they will refer them to the agency that is most convenient to their home. Clients must fall under the maximum income guidelines as designated by the USDA. The guidelines for income are based on family size, it is the responsibility of the pantries to determine if a client meets that criteria. The client must provide proof of residence in the area in which they live and a picture ID. Generally these pantries are emergency pantries which serve the clients at least 4 times per year.

The SNAP food benefits (formerly known as Food Stamps) helps people with low incomes and resources buy the food they need for good health. Medicaid Programs provide medical benefits for eligible low income adults, children, and families. CHIP offers a health insurance program for children. Anyone convicted of a drug-related felony (possession, use or distribution of a controlled substance) after August 22, 1996, is not eligible for SNAP (Food Stamps) benefits.Hours: M-F, 8 am to 5 pm.

Falfurrias United Methodist Church gives free food to people in-need on the 2nd Friday of every month. Must register with ID and proof of address (any bill with current address) before receiving food. Registrations are accepted only on Wednesdays from 10 AM to 2PM at the United Methodist Thrift Store.

PDAP provides a positive, safe place where teenagers, adults, and family members can feel they belong, share their struggles coping with alcohol or drug abuse, and talk to counselors. It is a peer-based and 12-step program to mainly assist youth, age 5 to 17, deal with their own or a family member’s drug or alcohol abuse. To get involved, call to set up an appointment. All services are free.
