Brother Bill's Helping Hand Community Clinic
Dallas County Health and Human Services - STD Clinic
Services offered can include testing, some same-day results, an exam and treatment. The fee is $20. The STD clinic offers confidential testing for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, HIV, Herpes with symptoms, Trichomonas, Chancroid with symptoms and Yeast Infections.Medication is offered on-site to treat clients for their infections. Preventable treatment is also provided for clients exposed to STDs. The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Dallas County Health and Human Services - Foreign Travel/Adult Immunizations
Dallas County Health and Human Services offers vaccinations to adults for routine immunization and foreign travel. The clinic, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, is located in Room 141, on the first floor of the DCHHS building.Appointments are not required.DCHHS charges a $25 administrative fee per patient for their first time visit, plus the cost of the needed vaccines. Payment of the administrative fee is made once a year.A $5 fee is assessed for the replacement of missing shot records. International travel cards cost $5.
Dallas County Health and Human Services - Tuberculosis Testing
Clinic hours for skin testing are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, EXCEPT Thursdays. (Skin testing is not done on Thursdays.) Appointments for skin tests are not necessary. The fee is $30.

AVANCE - Dallas
AVANCE primarily serves pregnant Latina women and Latino families with children from birth to age three. They offer a nine-month Parent-Child Education Program of bilingual weekly three-hour classes that teach parents about child development and work with the children on language development, learning of basic concepts and skills, and social competence. They also offer English as a Second Language classes to parents who complete the Parent-Child Education Program and some locations offer a class that teaches fathers about their importance in their child's development. AVANCE-Dallas delivers educational programs at 44 locations in Dallas County across three school districts.

The main objective of their programs is to fight illiteracy and meet the educational needs of adult immigrants, helping them to increase self-esteem, build social skills and develop professionally. This organization is designated as a Centro Comunitario de Aprendizaje (Community Learning Center) by the Tecnologico de Monterrey University based in Monterrey, Mexico. Students have access to certified on line distance learning curricula offered by this university, including English, GED preparation, Computer Literacy, and more.
Christian Community Action - Vocational & Educational Programs
Classes include: a GED Program, English as a Second Language, Job Search Skills, Computer Skills, Financial Management, Forklift Certification and Connect to Success Academy (for youth planning to enter college).
Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps
They offer participants training through life skills and job readiness classes, mentoring by Christian women, and networking through their partnership with churches and other nonprofits for crucial needs such as childcare, housing, health, transportation and specific job training. Classes taught include computer skills, Bible study, interviewing skills, resume preparation and parenting skills.
Dallas Independent School District - Adult Education and Workforce Literacy
Adult education courses include: Adult basic literacy and math skills, GED preparation, English as a second language (ESL), Citizenship/Civics, Distance Learning and Workforce Literacy. The AE program is open for adults throughout Dallas and Rockwall counties. Classes are held at eight different locations in the Dallas area. All classes and materials are free-of-charge to the public.
Dallas Public Library
The Dallas Public Library system offers GED preparation classes for students who meet the age requirements. Registration is required. Students must show a government-issued ID that contains a photo and date of birth confirmation to register. Branches that offer the GED courses include Martin Luther King Jr., Highland Hills, Polk-Wisdom, Pleasant Grove, North Oak Cliff and Forest Green.
Hope Coalition Continued Education
The classes meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1pm until 3pm. Also the classes are free of charge and enrollment is open to any adult desiring to be tutored in preparation for taking the GED test.They also offer adult literacy classes.

Project 4 Victory
Project 4 Victory, a program of the Urban League of Greater Dallas, helps re-entering individuals with a nonviolent criminal history through job readiness training, life skills, coaching and mentoring, mental health and substance abuse services, GED preparation, computer training, and job placement assistance. Participants must be 18 years of age or older, have nonviolent offenses, and enroll within 180 days of release to qualify for assistance.

Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services supports people with disabilities to prepare for, obtain and advance in meaningful employment by providing of range of services based on an individual’s employment goals. Texas Offenders Reentry Initiative (TORI)- Dallas TORI Metroplex Economic Development Corporation
TORI is a non-profit, faith-based organization with a mission to guide and empower previously incarcerated individuals in maximizing their potential, increase opportunity, and promote a successful reintegration back to society. Cornbread Hustle
Cornbread Hustle is a staffing agency focused on second chances. They offer job placement for people coming out of incarceration/returning to their communities, as well as those with criminal records/backgrounds or in recovery from substance addiction and alcoholism. Many of the jobs we place lead to permanent, full-time employment. They post new jobs daily throughout the Dallas area, as well as in Sherman.

Adult Rehabilitation Ministry (ARM)
ARM provides housing for men who do not have sex offenses and who are not on electronic monitors. Individuals with major medical or mental health issues are also not accepted. Rent is $55 per week. There is a six-month minimum stay.
Angels Recovery House
Angels Recovery House provides transitional housing for women and men. Individuals with sex offenses and those on electronic monitors are not accepted, but individuals with violent offenses are permitted. Rent is $80 per week for men and $70 per week for women. There is no minimum or maximum stay.
Austin St. Center
Austin Street Center provides emergency shelter and related services to the homeless person in a compassionate, faith-based community. They provide the basics of food, shelter, showers, clothing and, when necessary, medical attention, to homeless people. Eligibility: Men 45 and over, Ladies 18 and over. Should the facility be at capacity during arrival, Austin Street will work to find an alternative location.Fees: No fees required. All services and care provided free of charge. Walk in: Intake is at 2:00 PM for Women and 4:00 PM for Men, 7 days a week.

This agency administers the Section 8 rental voucher program for low income families. Eligibility for people convicted of criminal offenses varies and waiting lists are common.

Bridges Safehouse provides shelter, resources, life-skills training, and mentoring to women who are over 18. Children up to six years old are permitted.
Buckner Family Pathways
Buckner Family Pathways in Dallas provides single-parent families the opportunity to live in a safe, secure environment while the parent completes his or her educational or vocational goals and learns the necessary skills needed to become self-sufficient. Families are supported through the provision of affordable housing, financial assistance and case management services, which include referrals to parenting education, budget training, life skills and individual and group counseling.
Catholic Charities Fort Worth - Veteran Services
Veteran Services is a joint project between the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Catholic Charities Fort Worth. This collaboration between the VA and CCFW is purposed to promote housing stability among low-income veterans and their families who are at risk of or are currently homeless. This program promotes housing stability among low income veterans, linking veterans to needed benefits, both public and VA, and providing short-term assistance to set veteran households up for long-term stability.
Choice of Life Outreach
Choice of Life Outreach provides housing for men. Individuals with sex offenses are not accepted, but those on electronic monitors are permitted. Rent is $100 per week, but this amount is negotiable. Residents must be employable.
Continuum of Care Ministries
Continuum of Care Ministries provides transitional housing for men and women. Individuals with sex offenses are not accepted, but those with violent offenses and individuals on electronic monitors are permitted. The program lasts six months to one year, but residents must commit to at least 90 days. All services are free of charge. Interested individuals should write first to inquire about availability.

This is the largest homeless shelter in North Texas, housing up to 500 people each night. This faith-based agency also offers a long-term addiction recovery program. Families stay together and single dads with kids are welcome. They also welcome seniors and those with slight mental health issues.
Free-Man House
Free-Man House provides transitional housing for women. Individuals with sex offenses and violent offenses are not accepted, but those on electronic monitors are permitted. Rent is $125 per week. For individuals who are referred through a partner ministry, a $125 deposit is required. Otherwise, a $375 deposit is required, which includes the first two weeks of rent.
Gideon House
This faith-based program provides a safe and clean living environment for men and women, food and clothing, an in-house 12 step recovery program, employment opportunities, help with transportation, money and anger management classes and in-house Bible study classes.
Lasting Solutions Boarding Home
Lasting Solutions Boarding Home provides transitional housing for men. Individuals with sex offenses and those on electronic monitors are not accepted. A $200 deposit is required before arrival.

Soul's Harbor
A faith-based, 12-step program is used at this recovery home where men can learn tools to fight their addiction or other issues and live in a clean, sober and functional environment each day. Therapy is also provided.
Straight Street
Straight Street provides transitional faith-based housing for men. Individuals with sex offenses and those on electronic monitors are not accepted. Residents must be employable, willing to change and participate in programming, and attend classes and church regularly. Rent is based on income.
Victory Outreach
Victory Outreach provides a faith-based transitional housing program for men and women free of charge. Individuals with sex offenses and those with violent offenses against children are not accepted; individuals on electronic monitors are accepted after an evaluation. There is a one-year minimum stay, and during the first two weeks residents are required to participate in Church-only activities. Residents are expected to work in the Christian recovery home.
Welcome House
Welcome House provides transitional housing and a drug and alcohol recovery program for men. Individuals with sex offenses are not accepted, but those with violent offenses and individuals on electronic monitors are permitted. An average stay is six months to one year. Rent is $135 per week (which includes meals), and a $150 deposit is required. Residential short-term treatment (30 days or less) is also offered.
Union Gospel Mission
Provides overnight shelter, food, for up to 200 men. Clothing issued daily. Computer Training, employment assistance and skills training available. Rehabilitation programs for those addicted to alcohol and drugs. Hours: 7 days 24 hours.
Salvation Army Dallas Shelter and Services
Short-term temporary shelter, meals, and casework services for men, women and families. Capacity of 240 people. Cost $7.00 per night negotiable in some cases. Religious service not required. On-site child care is available to residents with children.
The Stewpot
The Stewpot offers a safe haven for homeless and at-risk individuals of Dallas, providing resources for basic survival needs as well as opportunities to start a new life. Other services include: case management, health care, and substance abuse assistance; youth programs; job training; rep payee; referral for employment, housing and other benefits; access to mailing address and voice mail. Creative and social activities include art classes, community concerts, and talent shows.
Veteran's Resource Center
They offer care for homeless Veterans, providing day resources and transitional housing. This includes assistance connecting to non-profit employment, educational and VA resources. They also have a Day Center to provide homeless Veterans with day services. They have a female resource center that provides female-oriented services for female Veterans.

The Basket is a food program that serves nearly 20,000 individuals annually, giving boxes of food that will feed a family for three to five days. CareCenter employs a three-tiered biblical approach to its food distribution. Recipients receive food three times, no obligation whatsoever.Afer that, recipients are asked to perform small community service tasks in exchange for food. CareCenter Ministries - The RACE Program
The RACE program is a one-year residential program for men with life-controlling problems, such as alcohol and substance abuse; also, those who have behavioral dysfunctions or a criminal history. The RACE program is a program of discipleship, including a faith-based, 12-step program.During the first ninety days of the program, up to 30 men live on a 22-acre farm in Wills Point, TX, where they are taught the foundational principles needed for a successful life, while dealing with their addictive behavior. After the ninety days the men are brought to live at the St. Augustine Ministry Center in Dallas. Here, they continue to work through the 12-step program, as well as begin to learn the value of service. There is no cost for the program.

The Dallas 24 Hour Club, Inc. is an organization that provides safe and sober transitional housing for men and women who are seeking recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction. They currently have the capacity to service up to 67 men and women. Their program focuses on the 12-step model of recovery. The main purposes of The 24 Club of Dallas, Inc. are to: (1) provide a place for 12-Step recovery groups to hold meetings; (2) provide a safe haven for people in recovery; (3) provide a venue for 12-Step fellowships to assist others in achieving sobriety; (4) provide shelter and housing for up to eighteen months per stay for recovering alcoholics and drug addicts at a minimal cost; (5) act as a liaison between our residents in need and service agencies that might fulfill those needs; and (6) provide an environment to make those who want recovery or want to support recovery welcome.The Dallas 24 Hour Club is open to the public for meeting attendance, service to our residents, information on recovery and our services, as well as our full service restaurant.
