Hiway 80 Rescue Mission Ministries operates a transitional housing facility for men and women. Acceptance is based on a screening and evaluation process. Services are provided free of charge.

Christian, emergency shelter for homeless women. Walk-ins accepted. They offer classes such as Bible study, money management, cooking and parenting as well as a 12-step recovery program.

This agency offers Section 8 rental housing vouchers for low income families. Eligibility for people convicted of criminal offenses varies and waiting lists are common.

Outreach Redemption House for Women provides transitional housing services for women who do not have sex offenses or violent offenses. Individuals on electronic monitors are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Residents must be alcohol- and drug-free and attend church services. There is no minimum or maximum stay. Rent is $440 per month, and a $70 deposit is required.

Outreach Redemption House for Men provides transitional housing and drug/alcohol abuse recovery services. Individuals with sex offenses, violent offenses, and electronic monitors are accepted. Residents must attend a 12-step recovery program and church services. There is no minimum or maximum stay. Rent is $480 per month, and a $100 deposit is required.

This organization provides food to more than 200 partner agencies, in an effort to feed children, the working poor and seniors throughout 26 counties in East Texas. They also operate a mobile food pantry and maintain two community gardens to grow food for the needy. Call or go online to locate emergency food assistance in your area.

The Veteran Services Officer acts as an advocate and assists veterans and/or their survivors obtain entitled benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the State of Texas. Office Hours:7:30am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday

Salvation Army in Kerrville offers emergency shelter as well as assistance with food, clothing, rent, utilities, prescriptions and transportation.

The SNAP food benefits (formerly known as Food Stamps) helps people with low incomes and resources buy the food they need for good health. Medicaid Programs provide medical benefits for eligible low income adults, children, and families. CHIP offers a health insurance program for children. Woodbine Treatment Center provides outpatient substance abuse treatment services to women and criminal justice clients. Pregnant or postpartum women are welcome.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is a not for profit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. They are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. The desire to stop using is the only requirement for membership. This group includes Spanish speaking NA meetings in Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, Del Rio, El Paso, Houston, Laredo, Longview, Mansfield, Mackinney, San Antonio, Tyler, & Weslaco.The meetings are free and anyone may join.
